Happy holidays Lincroft, NJ! Welcome back to the ongoing dental health blog of Newman Springs Dental Care. This year is just flying by, it seems like just yesterday we were warning parents about the risk of tooth decay from Halloween candy! In our last blog post, we described some of the benefits offered by the Invisalign system of orthodontics. In the days which have followed, many patients have contacted our office to ask more about Invisalign. So in today's post from Newman Springs Dental Care in Lincroft, NJ, we taught we'd share some more information about the benefits of Invisalign orthodontics.

But first, let's review the top three benefits of Invisalign which we mentioned in our last post. First, Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional adult braces. Instead of the traditional metal brackets and wire method, Invisalign uses a system of clear aligners to reposition your teeth. Invisalign aligners are designed to fit perfectly over your teeth and not cause you any discomfort.

Perhaps the biggest inconvenience is that it can be extremely difficult to eat with traditional metal braces. There's a ton of different foods you have to avoid when you've got a mouthful of metal.

Certain harder foods like crusty bread or steak can knock a bracket right off of your teeth. Other foods tend to get caught in the brackets and wires of traditional adult braces. Foods ranging from pasta to candy can get lodged in the wires. This can cause you great discomfort, require additional orthodontist appointments, and increase your risk of tooth decay.
